reviews
Assorted press quotes on 'Up And Over'.
AMPLIFIER (USA):
'...The Mashed Potatoes' Up and Over! delivers on the promise of their earlier releases by dishing out ridiculously catchy, high-energy guitar-pop at almost every turn.'
LIVE-XS (NL):
'...The iron-strong and super-cool songs are like a cool breeze on a hot summer day. (...) The real music lover does not have to search on.'
FRET (NL):
'...It's clear this band has made an enormous progression since the mini-CD Do You Want Me To Touch You, Baby? of 1997. The songs on Up And Over are fresh and catchy: cheerful up-tempo songs that make you want to be in sunnier places.'
LEIDSCH DAGBLAD (NL):
'...The sounds of Mashed Potatoes make you think of sunshine, a sunny terrace and a good beer. (...) Every single song is a catchy one, and after 10 minutes you just wanna sway to their sound.'
ALLES OP 10 (NL):
'...This is good guitar-pop (...), a beautiful open sound, with room for an occasional organ riff and beautiful backing harmonies. (...) What truly amazes me is that such a nice band, that has been around for quite a while, needs a Spanish record company (!) to market their record in our own country.'
MUSIC MAKER (NL):
'...good memories of The Knack, The Romantics and The Kinks. The ballads Sweet Sweet Song and Such Good Friends and the ingenious Malibu, Malibu can compete with Big Star and XTC. Up and Over is a record that will fill your room with sunshine.'
OPSCENE (NL):
'...Up and Over has become a very good third record. Rock 'n' roll bursting with pleasure, surf-punk that makes water flow into the living room, the sixties in four digits: 2,0,0,0. Contemporary and with exactly the right noticeable influences. The Ventures covering a Stones song, followed by Ray Davies and consorts beating the brothers Beach Boy in a surf-match.(...) Go and see the group perform a sparkling show and afterwards play Up and Over to enjoy them again.'
