What is going on?

Maybe some of you wonder what's happening with the former members of the MP's. Here's a short update.

Marijn, Peter and Rob are rehearsing weekly in Rotterdam, writing new material. About six songs are more or less finished. A band name is not yet made up. Suggestions are more than welcome.

Mike's solo album is still being worked on. More news will follow.

Mike quits the Mashed Potatoes

After 16 years of fun and magic, ups and downs Mike has decided it is time for a change; he's leaving the Mashed Potatoes.

Read a personal note from Mike here.

Peter, Rob and Marijn are determined to continue making music together, but without Mike a lot will change; the band has lost one of their lead vocalists and their main songwriter. Continuing as a trio, Peter will pick up the guitar again. Also, a whole new set list needs to be written - with the exception of maybe one or two songs.

Without Mike it doesn't feel right to keep the name Mashed Potatoes, so in effect it's the end of the Mashed potatoes era.

Mike has already moulded his ambition into a new shape and has started recordings for his solo album with Corno Zwetsloot. Marijn has already helped him laying down drum tracks. Also Mike and Peter are working together again; they have written and recorded the music for a TV commercial for Unicef Kids United which will be on air in October. It is likely that Mike will continue to do projects with the other band members in the future.

Peter, Rob and Marijn are currently looking for a new name for their 'new' band. To be continued...
